Condolences to family and friends of former WSYR-A and WHEN-A/SYRACUSE talk show host and news anchor ROD CARR, who died TODAY (3/11) at his home in CLAY, NY two weeks before his 65th birthday, according to the SYRACUSE POST-STANDARD. CARR was a news anchor at ABC affiliate WNYS-TV (now WSYR-TV)/SYRACUSE in the 1970s before first joining the DEWITT, NY police department, then, after a year, becoming the spokesman for the SYRACUSE Police Department. He later joined WSYR radio as an anchor and then as GARY NOLAN's co-host for a talk show. Moving to WHEN as a talk host, he returned to police work in PHOENIX, NY as Police Chief, a position he held until his death.
CARR's former co-worker at WSYR, BILL COLLEY, posted his thoughts about CARR at the website of his current station, Talk WGMD/REHOBOTH BEACH, DE. Read COLLEY's column by clicking here.
