Comment Dates Set For FCC's Tribal Preferences Proceeding

Dates are now set for comments and replies to the FCC's proposals for changes in Commission procedures and preferences to benefit Native American tribes and ALASKA Native Villages. Comment in the docket, Media Bureau Docket 09-52, are due on APRIL 15th with replies due on MAY 16th.
The proposals include using threshold qualifications to determine FM allotment eligibility using the Tribal Priority; whether non-Tribal applicants should be allowed to bid on such allotments absent Tribal interest; the desirability and feasibility of Tribal auction bidding credits; and the financial disadvantages, if any, facing Tribes seeking commercial facilities at auction.
