Novelist, screenwriter, and former "TODAY SHOW" producer AL MORGAN, who used his experience writing for radio and producing CBS radio's "THIS IS NEW YORK" to write the novel and movie "THE GREAT MAN," died MARCH 3rd in BRATTLEBORO, VT at 91, according to the NEW YORK TIMES.
MORGAN's radio work was the basis for his 1955 novel "THE GREAT MAN," about a popular, folksy radio host whose personality in real life was the opposite of his public image. JOSE FERRER directed and starred in the 1957 movie version. MORGAN later wrote several other novels and a BROADWAY musical and won an EMMY for his work on "TODAY" in 1968.
