Oregon Public Radio Anchor Heidi Tauber Dies In Car Crash

Condolences to family and friends of OREGON PUBLIC RADIO news anchor HEIDI TAUBER, who died in a head-on car crash WEDNESDAY night on I-405 in PORTLAND at 52. A PORTLAND POLICE BUREAU release said TAUBER (a/k/a HEIDI TAUBER ESPING), a longtime anchor in the market at stations like CLEAR CHANNEL Talk KPOJ-A and KEX-A, now-ALPHA Triple A KINK, and PAMPLIN Talk KPAM-A, drove a 2007 MAZDA CX7 SUV the wrong way up the entrance ramp at Highway 30 and collided "nearly head-on" with a double-tractor-trailer while driving southbound in the northbound ramp lanes.
OPB VP of Programming LYNNE CLENDENIN issued a statement THURSDAY saying of TAUBER, "She provided warm tones and a welcomed smile on our stations and to all she would encounter at OPB. We will miss her deeply and send our deepest regrets to her family and friends for their loss.
