Sportscaster TRENNI KUSNIEREK is joining JOURNAL Talk WTMJ-A/MILWAUKEE, where she will anchor sports during "WISCONSIN'S AFTERNOON NEWS" and will co-host the evening "SPORTS CENTRAL" show with morning sports anchor GREG MATZEK, starting APRIL 4th. MATZEK and KUSNIEREK replace BILL MICHAELS, who could not reach an agreement on a new contract with the station, on "SPORTS CENTRAL."
KUSNIEREK most recently served as a reporter for MLB NETWORK and MLB.TV and has been hosting a podcast with FOX affiliate WITI-TV (FOX 6)'s JEN LADA at crosstown GOOD KARMA Sports WAUK-A (ESPN MILWAUKEE) and appearing on the station's "D-LIST" midday show; she previously worked at FOX SPORTS WISCONSIN and is a MILWAUKEE native and MARQUETTE graduate.
"We are thrilled to welcome TRENNI to WTMJ Radio. Her local roots, her sports knowledge and her strong broadcast background make her a perfect addition to our sports team," said JOURNAL BROADCAST GROUP EVP/Television & Radio Operations STEVE WEXLER.
"I am beyond excited to begin working with GREG MATZEK and the rest of the incredible staff at NEWSRADIO 620 WTMJ," said KUSNIEREK. "After moving around and covering sports on both the regional and national level, I can't imagine a more perfect scenario than talking and debating sports in my hometown. Some of my fondest sports memories involve listening to BOB UECKER; I don't think I ever imagined I'd be sharing the dial with a legend!"
"I couldn't be more thrilled about my new opportunity with NEWSRADIO 620 WTMJ. As a person who grew up in the MILWAUKEE area listening to WTMJ, it's a privilege for me to follow in the footsteps of so many talented sports announcers," said MATZEK. "I'm looking most forward to engaging with WTMJ listeners on a more frequent basis, both on the air and in person. I can't wait to get started."
