'Kokua For Japan' Concert Raises $1.6 Million

CLEAR CHANNEL RADIO/HAWAII and OCEANIC TIME WARNER CABLE staged "KOKUA FOR JAPAN," a radio, television and Internet fund raising concert for the victims of the earthquake and tsunami in JAPAN. Held on Sunday, April 10th, from noon to 5p, the benefit raised $1.6 million.
"We’re so proud of the way the TV and radio stations, vendors, volunteers, entertainers and the people of HAWAII came together to support the people of JAPAN," CLEAR CHANNEL RADIO/HAWAII VP/GM CHUCK COTTON said. "This was truly the ‘spirit of Aloha’ at its best.”
"It has been an amazing day," KOKUA FOR JAPAN Exec. Producer JON BREKKE added. "We are proud to be a part of it. Our hearts go out to JAPAN."
Performing at the event were JACK JOHNSON; WILLIE NELSON; HENRY KAPONO with special guests MICHAEL MCDONALD and MICK FLEETWOOD; PATRICK SIMMONS; CECILIO & KAPONO and many more. On-air personalities from CLEAR CHANNEL RADIO and local broadcast and cable TV stations served as hosts.
