CARTER first became known in the industry as the songwriter of the '60s the psychedelic-pop hit "Incense And Peppermints." After a brief stint doing promotion out of the BAY AREA for ATLANTIC RECORDS, he got an A&R job at CAPITOL RECORDS, where he signed acts and produced records for SAMMY HAGAR, TINA TURNER ("Private Dancer"), BOB SEGER, BOB WELCH and THE MOTELS. He then worked at CHRYSALIS RECORDS and ISLAND/DEF JAM and also managed groups such as CHICKENFOOT.
"CARTER was a great friend and mentor,' SKY DANIELS recalls. "I had the honor of working with him at ISLAND/DEF JAM and also on the CHICKENFOOT project. Through his great work with TINA TURNER, BOB SEGER, THE CRANBERRIES and more, he was a consummate creative force. He will be missed."
