New York April 2011: Top 3 Down, Though Rank Unchanged In April

#1 CLEAR CHANNEL AC WLTW (106.7 LITE FM) (7.6-7.0), #2 CBS RADIO Classic Hits WCBS-F (5.4-5.3) and #3 CLEAR CHANNEL Top 40 WHTZ (Z100) (5.1-4.8) were all down P6+ in APRIL in NEW YORK, though their ranks were unchanged. CBS RADIO News WCBS-A moved up from #6t to #3t (3.7-4.8) and CLEAR CHANNEL Top 40 WKTU fell from #4 to #5 (4.7-4.6).

APRIL was the third straight up month for UNIVISION Spanish Top 40 WXNY (X96.3) (see Snapshot Trends below), advancing on SBS Tropical WSKQ (MEGA 97.9), which maintained or gained in its own key demos. X96.3 rose from #12 to #7t P6+ (3.2-3.6), just behind #6 MEGA 97.9 (4.1-4.1). X96.3 rose from #9 to #7 (P25-54) while MEGA went #5 to #5t.

LOS ANGELES April 2011: KIIS #1; KFI-A, KBIG Rising

CLEAR CHANNEL Top 40 KIIS was #1 P6+ in LOS ANGELES in APRIL for the fourth month in a row (5.2). CLEAR CHANNEL Talk KFI-A rose from #3 to #2 (4.5), and CLEAR CHANNEL AC KOST (103.5) fell from #2 to #3 (4.4). #4 CBS RADIO Classic Hits KRTH (K-EARTH 101FM) (4.2) and #5 EMMIS Top 40/Rhythmic KPWR (POWER 106) (3.8) were unchanged in share and rank in APRIL.

KFI-A continued trending up in key demos in APRIL (see Snapshot Trends below), moving from #7 to #6 P25-54 and adding share while holding on to the #1 position P35-64. CBS RADIO News KNX-A fell from #18t to #23t P25-54 and from #11t to #16 P35-64.

CLEAR CHANNEL Hot AC KBIG (104.3 MY FM) also added to its string of growth months in APRIL, rising from #4 to #3t P25-54, just a hair behind #2 KOST. MY FM maintained its #1 position with WOMEN P25-54, ahead of #2 KIIS, #3 UNIVISION Spanish Contemporary KLVE, and #4 KOST.

CHICAGO April 2011: WGN-A and V-103 #1; THE LOOP, WBBM-A Surging In Opposite Directions

Despite their foibles, CHICAGO loves the CUBS and CUBS flagship TRIBUNE Talk WGN-A likely got some CUBS lovin’ in APRIL in CHICAGO, rising from #3 to #1t P6+ (4.5-5.4). CLEAR CHANNEL Urban AC WVAZ (V-103) went #2 to #1t (4.8-5.4).

EMMIS Classic Rock WLUP (97.9 THE LOOP) added another strong month to a string of strong months (see Snapshot Trends below) going from #13 to #8t to #4t P25-54 From FEBRUARY through APRIL. BONNEVILLE Classic Hits WDRV (THE DRIVE 97.1) dropped from #2 to #3 P25-54. Meantime CBS RADIO News WBBM-A trended down again (6.1-5.6-5.2 P6+, FEBRUARY through APRIL) and dropped from #2 to #3 to #4t P35-64 during the same period. WGN-A’s comps for the same period are 4.9-4.5-5.4 P6+ and #5t to #8 to #2 P35-64, while CITADEL Talk WLS-A was 4.3-4.3-4.0 P6+ and #9 to #7 to #8 P35-64.

#1 CBS RADIO Top 40/R WBBM-F (B96) and #2 CLEAR CHANNEL Top 40 WKSC (1035 KISS FM) had a big APRIL, rising 25% and 26% respectively, P18-34, knocking CLEAR CHANNEL Urban WGCI from #1 to #3 in the demo.

Dallas-Ft. Worth April 2011: KISS #1 Again In Dallas

For the fourth month in a row, CLEAR CHANNEL Top 40 KHKS (106.1 KISS-FM) was #1 P6+ in DALLAS-FT. WORTH in APRIL with 6.1. UNIVISION Regional Mexican KLNO (RECUERDO) was #2 with 5.6, and CUMULUS Country KPLX was #3 with 5.2. KISS also maintained the #1 position P25-54, again for the fourth month in a row.

KPLX piled on another good month P25-54, moving from #5 to #3t and continuing a share growth trend that goes back to the beginning of the year (see Snapshot Trends below). KPLX rose from #4 to #3 P18-34 and from #5t to #5 P35-64. CITADEL Country KSCS continued an upward trend P6+ and P18-34 in APRIL, but was flat to slightly down in upper demos.

JACK Is Back: CBS RADIO Adult KJKK (JACK) has been trending upward for several months in key demos (5 months in a row share growth P6+, P18-49, P25-54, and P35-64), with Top 5 rankings in all but P6+.
