eMUSIC, a members-only indie music subscription service, has pacted with EMI MUSIC, which will add more than 15,000 albums to its catalog, reports CRAINS NEW YORK. eMUSIC, which sells downloads to its 400,000 members at a discount, will not have access to most of what EMI has released in the past 12 months, but eMUSIC CEO ADAM KLEIN expects to offer more new releases in the coming months.
"Whether it's indie rock, jazz or classics, the majors distribute a huge amount of that music, so you can't be a comprehensive site in those genres unless you have them," KLEIN said.
