A judge has just ruled in favor of BEASLEY BROADCASTING COMPANY in a lawsuit filed by the onetime-girlfriend of deceased WRXK (K-ROCK)/FT. MYERS. FL morning man JOE SCOTT, who issued the radio group for invasion of privacy and negligent hiring and retention against the broadcaster, reports NAPLESNEWS. COM. The attorney representing plaintiff PATTI DAVIS offered evidence where SCOTT called her a prostitute and other detrimental descriptions on-air that they allege damaged DAVIS' reputation and real estate career.
However, Circuit Judge CHRISTINE GREIDER sided with BEASLEY BROADCASTING GROUP after the conclusion of the plaintiff's case, precluding jury deliberation in the case. She cited a lack of provable damages that led to her decision. DAVIS attorney WILLIAM THOMPSON, JR. will appeal the decision in the 2nd District Court of Appeal "on the sole issue of fundamental denial of due process and trial by jury."
