Prosecutors dropped all charges of driving while intoxicated against EMMIS Talk KLBJ-A/AUSTIN afternoon host JEFF WARD after a review of videotapes of his field sobriety test, reports the AUSTIN AMERICAN-STATESMAN.
WARD was arrested THURSDAY night at 11p and police said he failed a field sobriety test; the paper reports that AUSTIN Police Chief ART ACEVEDO told prosecutors to review possible weaknesses in the case, and TRAVIS COUNTY Attorney DAVID ESCAMILLA dropped the case on MONDAY, saying he did not think the case had enough evidence to go forward.
WARD, who was returning from emceeing an event, denied being intoxicated and said he called ACEVEDO, a frequent guest on his show, to ask about the process, and that ACEVEDO scolded him for not taking a breath test and ended the call.
