Report: L.A. Reid To Head Epic Label Group

In mid-MARCH (NET NEWS 3/17), ISLAND DEF JAM Chairman ANTONIO "L.A." REID surprised the music business, and resigned to become a judge in SIMON COWELL's upcoming singing competition, "THE X FACTOR." Rumors persisted, however, that he had another music executive gig up his sleeve.

Now comes word that REID has joined SONY MUSIC, the record company that is partnered with "The X Factor." REID will reportedly be named Chairman of a restructured EPIC LABEL GROUP. Expect this to be formalized in JULY.

There is lots of speculation about which artists, currently within SONY could move to EPIC as part of REID's new deal, which ALL ACCESS has been told is not going to happen.

The move would reunite REID with DOUG MORRIS, who officially becomes CEO of SONY MUSIC on JULY 1st (NET NEWS 3/2).
