The long-discussed possibility of the merger of the AMERICAN FEDERATION OF RADIO AND TELEVISION ARTISTS and the SCREEN ACTORS GUILD has taken another step forward with formal discussions between representatives of the unions this past weekend at the NATIONAL LABOR COLLEGE in SILVER SPRING, MD, according to the LOS ANGELES TIMES.
Both unions formed committees in recent months to deal with merger issues, and the meetings this weekend were the first of several planned for this year to hammer out a merger plan.
The next meeting is planned for the "AFTRA and SCREEN ACTORS GUILD Group for One Union" in NEW YORK on AUGUST 27th-28th.
