CHARLES "BUD" WILLIAMSON's DIGITAL RADIO BROADCASTING is transferring the construction permit for WYNY-A/MIDDLETOWN, NY to JULI WILLIAMSON for $1. The transfer does not include the rights to the call letters WYNY, which the seller "reserves the right to use to transfer to another facility either before or after consummation." The clause is included as rumors of the return of the call letters to the NEW YORK market on Rock WRXP after its takeover by RANDY MICHAELS' MERLIN MEDIA circulate.
In other FCC filings, the former J&J FRITZ cluster in FREDERICKSBURG, TX has been sold by Chapter 11 trustee RANDOLPH N. OSHEROW to HILL COUNTRY BROADCASTING, owned by the FRITZ FAMILY L.P, for $700,000. The buyer, the high bidder at auction, is operated by NORBERT A. FRITZ, father of former owners JAYSON and JAN FRITZ. The stations include Country KNAF-F (THE DEUCE), Country KNAF-A/FREDERICKSBURG, and Triple A KFAN/JOHNSON CITY (TEXAS REBEL RADIO, THE FAN) as well as silent KEEP/BANDERA. The sale includes an approximately 3600 sq. ft. studio and office building and AM tower site in FREDERICKSBURG.
HERITAGE CHRISTIAN SCHOOL is transferring low power FM KQRZ-LP/HILLSBORO, OR to VALLEY CATHOLIC RADIO FOUNDATION, INC. for $1,000. The seller has ceased operation of its school, necessitating transfer of the station.
DRAKE ENTERPRISES, LTD. is donating Religion WPFJ-A (THE DOVE)/FRANKLIN, NC to TOCCOA FALLS COLLEGE, ,which will convert the station to noncommercial status.
RADIO ASSIST MINISTRY, INC. has applied for a Silent STA for FM translator W234BP/CARO, MI.
In a deal yet to be filed with the FCC, the GADSDEN TIMES reports that COOSA RIVER BROADCASTING has sold Oldies WGAD-A/GADSDEN, AL to GADSDEN RADIO MEDIA INC., controlled by developer JEFF BECH and DAVID FORD, and the buyer has taken over operations under an LMA effective JUNE 1st. The buyer also owns silent WJBY-A/RAINBOW CITY-GADSDEN, which was formerly owned by the seller but was transferred back under a consent judgment late in 2010, undoing a frequency swap between the two stations.
And in another deal not yet filed with the FCC, RAK COMMUNICATIONS is selling Hmong KGED-A/FRESNO to former FRESNO Mayor JIM PATTERSON, who will flip the station to Religion and Talk on SEPTEMBER 1st, according to the FRESNO BEE's RICK BENTLEY. PATTERSON is a former station owner and on-air personality who will host 4-6p (PT); partner and Pastor JIM FRANKLIN will host 7-9a weekdays, and other programming will include SALEM RADIO NETWORK's BILL BENNETT, MICHAEL MEDVED, DENNIS PRAGER, and RICHARD LAND.
