CLEAR CHANNEL Classic Rock KOBW (THE BREW)/NEW ORLEANS has flipped formats today at noon, to Hot AC/'90s hits KVDU, "VOODOO 104." Billing itself as "Retro, Rock, Dance and Everything in Between," the station's style of "Gen X" format boasts more of a Rhythmic lean; somewhere between Rhythmic Gen X’s in NORFOLK, HONOLULU and FRESNO and the traditional Gen X stations in LOUISVILLE, COLUMBUS, SEATTLE, ST. LOUIS and TULSA.
"This could be the most unique ‘Gen X’ yet," SVP/Programming JON ZELLNER said. "The library was custom built and designed for NEW ORLEANS and the possibilities with ‘voodoo’ are endless. We’re also excited about the on-air lineup we’re rolling out very soon."
Overseeing the flip will be OM DON GOSSELIN, who will serve as PD/Brand Manager. "It’s kind of like a musical gumbo," GOSSELIN said. "We will be utilizing many different media platforms to create, grow, and distribute the VOODOO 104 brand. This station absolutely will not fit into a neat and tidy format box like most other radio stations, VOODOO 104 prides itself on being unique, just like the great city of NEW ORLEANS."
An APD/MD to be announced next week. The station is running jockless and can be heard here.
