Facebook Rolls Out Video Chat, But No Music Deal With Spotify

As expected, FACEBOOK Founder MARK ZUCKERBERG unveiled a bevy of new chat features, including the much-hyped SKYPE-video chat integration. The HUFFINGTON POST reports that "the new features include a redesigned chat interface, group chats and the aforementioned video chat, all explained on FACEBOOK's blog."

Among the features:

* The new group chat feature enables users to select "Add Friends to Chat" so they can converse with multiple friends simultaneously. Users can even add friends who are not online; they'll get a summary of the chat after it's completed.

* A new sidebar lists your most-messaged friends, including those who are not online, and offers "one-click access" to reaching them

* Users click a video call button at the top of their chat window to start a video call; they can also leave video messages for people who aren't there. Once a user clicks the video chat feature, a plug-in has to be downloaded to enable the call.

In addition to video chatting, many suspected FACEBOOK would also announce a music partnership with SPOTIFY, but that will not be rolled out TODAY, a music industry source told THE NEW YORK POST.

MICROSOFT purchased SKYPE in MAY for $8.5 billion, and recently upgraded apps for APPLE's MAC computers and GOOGLE's ANDROID phones.
