KINK Fights Hunger With Record Breaking Donations Collected At Blues Festival

This past weekend (7/2-3) was PORTLAND, OR’s 24th annual SAFEWAY WATERFRONT BLUES FESTIVAL presented in association with ALPHA BROADCASTING Triple A KINK. Over 120,000 people came through the gates of event which is also a fundraiser for the OREGON FOOD BANK.
Records were broken with over $748,000 was raised in cash, along with 110,454 pounds of food.
"I’ve attended many festivals around the country and this one ranks right up there with the best of the best,” said KINK PD CHRIS MAYS. "With so many different entertainment stages, the music never stopped and I heard some incredible performances. But beyond that, now that the final numbers have been tallied, I’m so proud of the part that KINK plays in support of the OREGON FOOD BANK. This sort of generosity truly makes a difference in our community."
The festival boasted five entertainment stages with over 125 performances and this year’s headliners included ROBERT CRAY, BUDDY GUY and LUCINDA WILLIAMS. The event culminated with a fireworks spectacular, which was choreographed to a soundtrack broadcast on KINK.
