Family Stations Files To Convert WKDN/Camden-Philadelphia To Commercial Status

Controversial evangelist HAROLD CAMPING's FAMILY STATIONS, INC. has filed with the FCC to convert its Religion WKDN/CAMDEN-PHILADELPHIA to commercial status. The application, filed JULY 8th, would allow the company to transfer or sell the Class B FM with coverage of the PHILADELPHIA market to a commercial operator. CAMPING has previously dealt Religion KEAR-F/SAN FRANCISCO (now KFRC-F, a simulcast of News KCBS-A) to CBS RADIO in a swap that gave FAMILY STATIONS Oldies KFRC-A (now Religion KEAR-A).
In other filings with the FCC, EDUCATIONAL MEDIA FOUNDATION is buying Religion WCDR-F/CEDARVILLE, OH, its simulcast stations WOHC/CHILLICOTHE and WOHP/PORTSMOUTH, OH, and the construction permit for WOCU/SINKING SPRING, OH plus ten OHIO translators (including W202CC/COLUMBUS, OH) from THE CEDARVILLE UNIVERSITY for $2,325,000.
REVITALIZATION PARTNERS, LLC, the general receiver for NEW NORTHWEST BROADCASTERS, is selling a five-station cluster in FAIRBANKS, AK -- Sports KCBF-A, Talk KFAR-A, Adult Hits KTDZ (TED FM 103.9), Top 40 KWLF (WOLF 98.1), and Rock KXLR (95.9 X-ROCK) -- to ROBERT J. INGSTAD 's LAST FRONTIER MEDIACTIVE, LLC for $2.085 million. KALIL AND CO. is the broker for the deal.
The paperwork for the sale of the NEW JERSEY PUBLIC BROADCASTING AUTHORITY stations has been filed with the FCC, showing that WHYY, INC. is paying $926,000 plus $612,000 of non-cash consideration for noncommercial WNJS-F/BERLIN, WNJB-F/BRIDGETON, WNJN-F/ATLANTIC CITY, WNJM/MANAHAWKIN, and WNJZ/CAPE MAY COURT HOUSE, which are now simulcasting noncommercial News-Talk WHYY/PHILADELPHIA, while NEW YORK PUBLIC RADIO is paying $1 million plus $1,802,690 in non-cash consideration for noncommercial WNJY/NETCONG, WNJP/SUSSEX, WNJT-F/TRENTON, and WNJO/TOMS RIVER.
MILAM BROADCASTING COMPANY, INC. is selling Talk-Variety KTAE-A/CAMERON, TX to M&M BROADCASTERS, LTD. for $300,000.
RADIO ASSIST MINISTRY, INC. is selling FM translator W254AR/SANDERSVILLE, GA to RADIO STATION WSNT, INC. for $25,000.
CAROLINA CHRISTIAN RADIO, INC. is selling Religion WLSG-A/WILMINGTON, NC to OLIN BOHANAN for $120,000.
HARRY ABEL has purchased his 50% partner JOEL LEMON's interest in LIGHTHOUSE RADIO GROUP, owner of Smooth Jazz KYSJ (105.9 THE WAVE) and Contemporary Christian KYTT-F (K-LIGHT 98.7)/COOS BAY, OR for an undisclosed price. The deal leaves ABEL with 100% of the company.
SPIRIT MEDIA is selling FM translator K241AO/CORTEZ, CO to PETER TRAN for $10,000.
THE MACDONALD BROADCASTING COMPANY is selling the construction permit for WZTC/TRAVERSE CITY, MI to PATRICIA MACDONALD GARBER's PLAYTIME MEDIA, LLC for $1.
RIVERS, L.P. is donating the construction permit for a new AM in JACKSON, MS to JOY CHRISTIAN COMMUNICATIONS, INC., which is selling its construction permit for a new noncommercial FM at SYLVANIA, AL to ZYPRADIO BROADCASTING, INC. for $30,000 and buying the construction permit for noncommercial FM WSMP/NEW HEBRON, MS from CHURCH ALIVE, INC. for $5,000.
VIRGINIA STATE UNIVERSITY has requested a Silent STA for WVST-F/PETERSBURG, VA.
And TELIKOJA EDUCATIONAL BROADCASTING INC. has requested an extension of its Silent STA for WPAL/LAPORTE, PA.
Closings included VICTORY BROADCASTING COMPANY, LLC's sale of silent WCNF-A/DOTHAN, AL to ALARADO MEDIA, LLC for $10,000. and TRUTH BROADCASTING CORPORATION's sale of Religion KTIA-A/BOONE, IA to LATIN WORLD BROADCASTING, INC. for $240,000.
In addition, the purchase of Classic Country KBEC-A/WAXAHACHIE, TX by JIM PHILLIPS from JEANNE MOSLEY, SANDRA HOWELL and KEN ROBERTS' FAYE AND RICHARD TUCK, INC. for $1,250,000 ($714,000 plus $536,000 for real estate) has closed. MEDIA SERVICES GROUP's BILL WHITLEY assisted the seller in the deal.
And in a deal yet to be filed at the FCC, DONALD and LISA MURPHY's SRQ RADIO, LLC is selling Talk WSRQ-A/SARASOTA to SUSAN NILON and LAUREN RUDD's FLORIDA TALK RADIO for an undisclosed price, according to the SARASOTA HERALD-TRIBUNE. NILON, a columnist for the HERALD-TRIBUNE and a partner at DAY HAGAN ASSET MANAGEMENT, and RUDD have been hosting a show on crosstown POLNET Talk WTMY-A.
