ESPN2 SPORTSCENTER update anchor REISCHEA CANIDATE was pressed into extra service by ESPN RADIO and ESPN2's "MIKE AND MIKE IN THE MORNING," but in an unexpected way: She sang in the style of CARRIE UNDERWOOD on a song parody for the show.
On WEDNESDAY's show, MIKE GREENBERG and MIKE GOLIC debuted a parody of UNDERWOOD's "Before He Cheats" to satirize the penchant for athletes to embarrass themselves with Twitter posts. "Before He Tweets" was written by producer CURT "JOAQUIN" KAPLAN, who asked CANIDATE to sing the altered lyrics.
“We had discussed doing a song ages ago, but nothing really came about, then CURTIS asked me about this one, and I was all for it,” said CANIDATE, who sang the National Anthem before the debut match for women's soccer's SAN DIEGO SPIRIT in 2001, when CANIDATE was a sports anchor for then-WB affiliate KSWB-TV (now a FOX affiliate)/SAN DIEGO.
