UNITED STATIONS RADIO has announced that the network will be distributing POWERED BY COUNTRY WITH FITZ, a new personality-driven Country music countdown show. The show will be hosted by ENTERCOM Country KKWF (The WOLF)/SEATTLE morning star FITZ and will be three hours in length each week. POWERED BY COUNTRY will be delivered to affiliates digitally and UNITED STATIONS will be handling both national ad sales and affiliate relations for the show.
The new show is a production of KKWF and was developed by ENTERCOM SEATTLE’s VP/Programming and Operations DAVE RICHARDS, along with ENTERCOM’s Director of Country Programming MIKE MOORE. POWERED BY COUNTRY will incorporate the Top 25 chart and be “heavy on personality, superstar artist interviews, comedy and a number of original features.” It made its debut locally at KKWF in JUNE and has been added to KWJJ/PORTLAND, KSON/SAN DIEGO, WDAF/KANSAS CITY, WBEE/ROCHESTER and several more radio stations.
USRN’s EVP/Programming ANDY DENEMARK said, “For years, lots of folks have attempted to re-invent the COUNTRY COUNTDOWN, and this time, FITZ and his team have finally succeeded. FITZ is a major talent who brings tremendous enthusiasm, great instincts and a really fresh approach to the airwaves. We’re extremely proud and excited to be the network that gets to bring his skills and his content to broadcasters everywhere.”
FITZ added, “Growing up listening to RICK DEES and BOB KINGSLEY, this has always been my dream, and I’m excited to change the landscape of Country music countdown shows.”
