Rhythmic AC WZJZ Flips To Top 40 As The New Y100
July 25, 2011 at 4:55 AM (PT)
CLEAR CHANNEL Rhythmic AC WZJZ (Z100)/FT. MYERS began stunting on FRIDAY (NET NEWS 7/22), with the promise of a big announcement, and today at 6a the format wheel stopped on Top 40/Mainstream as THE NEW Y100.
Y100 PD LOUIS KAPLAN said, "This final evolution of WZJZ takes the station from its broader Rhythmic AC origins to a tightly defined mainstream hits station positioning THE NEW Y100 and sister station WBTT (105.5 THE BEAT) as a 1-2 punch on both sides of the hit radio spectrum. Y100 will be SOUTHWEST FLORIDA's only true mainstream hits radio station, playing the latest Top 40 music with limited commercial interruptions and several daily 100 minute music sweeps. Y100 will feature today's hottest artists including LADY GAGA, RIHANNA, HOT CHELLE RAE, JENNIFER LOPEZ, BRUNO MARS, THE BAND PERRY, BLACK EYED PEAS, NICKI MINAJ, LMFAO, KATY PERRY, ADELE, PITBULL, and many more."
CLEAR CHANNEL/FT. MYERS VP/GM SHERRI SANCHEZ noted, "It's very exciting finally being able to unveil the final phase of our plan toward dominating the SOUTHWEST FLORIDA contemporary music scene. CLEAR CHANNEL is also pleased to offer our advertisers one stop shopping to reach the typically female Mainstream and Rhythmic Top 40 listeners."
