Former Rhode Island Governor, Outlet Communications Chief Bruce Sundlun Dies

Condolences to family and friends of former RHODE ISLAND Governor and OUTLET COMMUNICATIONS President and CEO BRUCE SUNDLUN, who died THURSDAY (7/21) at 91 in JAMESTOWN, RI.
SUNDLUN, who served two terms as Governor in the '90s, was in 1976-1988 President and CEO of THE OUTLET COMPANY (later OUTLET COMMUNICATIONS), the department store and broadcasting company, leading a leveraged buyout in 1986 to allow the company to buy more stations. OUTLET owned KIQQ/LOS ANGELES, WDBO-A-F/ORLANDO, WJAR-A-F and WSNE/PROVIDENCE, WIOQ/PHILADELPHIA, WTOP-A and WMMJ/WASHINGTON, and WQRS/DETROIT, along with nine TV stations (eight during SUNDLUN's tenure). An attorney, he also served as a founding member and director of EXECUTIVE JET AVIATION 9now NETJETS) and was a member of the board of COMSAT and served on the Board of Visitors of the U.S. AIR FORCE.
