The Afternoon 'O Show' Moves To Wakeups At WNKS
August 8, 2011 at 8:09 AM (PT)
After a five year run in nights and then in afternoons at CBS Top 40 WNKS (KISS 95.1)/CHARLOTTE, OTIS -- the host of the "O SHOW" -- moves his #1-ranked show to morning drive effective in two weeks (AUGUST 22nd). When he takes over mornings, OTIS will give up his MD stripes and be joined by local celebrity, BRITTNEY CASON.
BRITTNEY is a writer for CREATIVE LOAFING, noted for her nightlife column and relationship blog. Though she lists "writer" as her occupation, with clippings from COSMOPOLITAN and MAXIM magazines, she's cheered for the CAROLINA PANTHERS, hosted the NASCAR show 3 WIDE LIFE and reported for ESPNU, written for the CHARLOTTE BOBCATS, studied improv at SECOND CITY, performed stand-up at the COMEDY ZONE
WNKS OM/PD JOHN REYNOLDS told ALL ACCESS, "When ACE & TJ left, it was imperative to find someone that the audience felt an emotional attachment to, and we only had to look to our staff, and OTIS was clearly the person to fill this opening. He's got a huge following being the most-listened-to afternoons show in the market. Moving him to mornings is a great step for WNKS and for OTIS.
"And with BRITTNEY joining OTIS, we've brought the most lifestyle-driven co-host we could find to team with OTIS. BRITTNEY has her own huge following and we expect that OTIS & BRITTNEY will dominate mornings in CHARLOTTE and become legendary."
OTIS told ALL ACCESS, "I've had my eye on doing mornings for a while and this was the perfect opportunity to segue to wakeups. I know the CHARLOTTE market and love it here. Under JOHN REYNOLDS I've learned a lot of great skills that have lead me to this, just 11 years into my career. I couldn't be happier.
"And, it's so great to have BRITTNEY on my team. She's so talented and has built a terrific community of followers. She will be my SARAH JESSICA PARKER for SEX IN THE CHARLOTTE CITY -- we're going to have a lot of fun together."
