A tragedy took the lives of 5 people and injured 45 others, waiting to see SUGARLAND at the INDIANA STATE FAIR last night (8/13) when a stage collapsed and lighting and sound equipment came crashing down during a sudden wind storm.
SARA BARIELLES had finished her performance and the crowd was waiting for SUGARLAND to take the stage when the wind came up around 9p and chaos followed. None of the performers were injured.
SUGARLAND lead singer JENNIFER NETTLES told the ASSOCIATED PRESS, "I am so moved," she said. "Moved by the grief of those families who lost loved ones. Moved by the pain of those who were injured and the fear of their families. Moved by the great heroism as I watched so many brave Indianapolis fans actually run toward the stage to try and help lift and rescue those injured. Moved by the quickness and organization of the emergency workers who set up the triage and tended to the injured."
@SUGARLANDMUSIC also TWEETED: "We are all right. We are praying for our fans, and the people of Indianapolis. We hope you'll join us. They need your strength."
