The FCC has released its quarterly reports of informal consumer inquiries and complaints for second, third, and fourth quarter 2010.
In second quarter, radio and TV inquiries dropped 5% to 4,883, 44% on programming issues. Complaints about radio and TV fell 80% to 25,162, the drop reflecting that a substantial volume of indecency complaints were filed in campaigns against two programs in first quarter. In second quarter, complaints peaked in MAY, with 22.031 indecency complaints (as opposed to 769 in APRIL and 672 in JUNE).
In third quarter, radio and TV inquiries further fell 29% to 3,490, while complaints plummeted 89% to 2,611, again credited to the previous quarter's campaigns against particular programs.
Finally, in fourth quarter, radio and TV inquiries jumped 37% to 4,783, and complaints were up as well, increasing 19% to 3,116.
