Former CITADEL AC WWLI (LITE ROCK 105)/PROVIDENCE personality TANYA CRUISE is asking to be sentenced to probation for her role in an insurance fraud scheme. She had previously reached a plea deal with prosecutors and pleaded guilty to insurance mail fraud and conspiracy charges (NET NEWS 5/25).
THE PROVIDENCE JOURNAL reports, "LORI SERGIACOMI, whose radio name was TANYA CRUISE, is a charitable and giving, yet gullible, person who got caught up in a scheme masterminded by others, according to a memorandum filed by her lawyer WILLIAM P. DEVEREAUX."
DEVEREAUX told the court that SERGIACOMI "has suffered greatly as a result of her crime by being known as a convicted felon and losing a job she had dedicated her life to. He noted that her employer, CITADEL BROADCASTING, promptly fired her from the position she held for 17 years after news of the charges surfaced, though the company has hired and retained radio personalities with felony convictions."
