FCC, FEMA Offer Additional Guidance For November 9th Nationwide EAS Test
August 24, 2011 at 3:57 AM (PT)
The FCC and FEMA have issued additional guidance for the NOVEMBER 9th nationwide test of the Emergency Alert System.
In the latest information issued by the agencies, the guidance includes that the test will end with the End of Message (EOM) code rather than the Emergency Action Termination (EAT) code, but that the difference will not require participants to reconfigure their encoder/decoders.
The location for the test will be WASHINGTON; the test will last for about three minutes; and while no tests in advance of the national test are planned, FEMA is working with selected states to do statewide pre-tests.
