WFTL Bringing FM News 101.9/New York Hurricane Coverage To South Florida
August 26, 2011 at 11:44 AM (PT)
With HURRICANE IRENE having turned towards the north and spared FLORIDA, JAMES CRYSTAL RADIO Talk WFTL-A/MIAMI-FORT LAUDERDALE-WEST PALM BEACH will be simulcasting MERLIN MEDIA News WEMP (FM NEWS 101.9)/NEW YORK this weekend, along with local cut-ins.
WFTL's RICH STEVENS tells ALL ACCESS that his station decided to use its 50,000-watt signal covering SOUTH FLORIDA to rebroadcast the NEW YORK coverage because of the large number of former NEW YORK and NEW JERSEY residents in the region. The simulcast starts at 3p (ET) TODAY and is contemplated to continue through SUNDAY at present.
