KRZQ Drops Alternative For Hot AC 'Mix'

WILKS BROADCASTING Alternative KRZQ/RENO has abandoned the Alternative format after 19 years to become Hot AC "Mix 100.9 ... RENO's Best Music Mix." OM ROB BROOKS will handle the day-to-day PD post for the time being.

The station is now airing the syndicated KIDD KRADDICK in the Morning, followed by music-intensive programming. 

"KIDD has been in the market before, but never put on a pedestal to create success," WILKS EVP/Programming JEFF SANDERS said. "I know KIDD's strength's and how he is capable of dominating.  The competition has a lot of weaknesses that I plan on exposing.  Their staff has already been calling, looking to jump ship.  Music on Alternative KRZQ will be splintered with the true Alt music going to Triple KTHX and the Rock side (i.e. STP, PEARL JAM, etc.) going to our other sister station, 92.9 THE BANDIT."
