FCC OKs WJSJ Studio Waiver

The FCC has approved receiver SCOTT SAVAGE's application for a waiver to locate the main studio for Tropical WJSJ (LA MEGA 105)/FERNANDINA BEACH-JACKSONVILLE outside the station's principal community contour. The Commission accepted evidence that, under Longley-Rice contour determinations, the proposed studio on Hogan Road in JACKSONVILLE, co-located with sister Gospel WFJO (JOY 92.5)/JACKSONVILLE BEACH, would be within the alternate principal community contour, and would help the stations save money.
The Commission also denied L.T. and RAYMOND SIMES' petition for reconsideration of the rejection of their claim for a new entrant bidding credit for a new FM at FRIARS POINT, MS (now WNEV). The SIMES application asked for a 25% new entrant credit against their bids for four allocations, but after initially being approved for the FRIARS POINT application, the credits were rejected because both applicants had interests in overlapping stations.
