BELL MEDIA RADIO Sports CKST-A (TEAM 1040)/VANCOUVER will continue as the flagship for the NHL's VANCOUVER CANUCKS under a new deal announced TODAY (11/10). The new pact is for five seasons starting after this season, taking the relationship through the 2016-17 season. TEAM 1040 became the CANUCKS' radio home in 2006 after the team had aired on CORUS Talk CKNW-A since its first season in the league in 1970.
"We are pleased to have a radio partner that is so committed to providing our fans with comprehensive coverage of their favourite team," said CANUCKS SPORTS AND ENTERTAINMENT COO and NHL Alternate Governor VICTOR DE BONIS. "The TEAM 1040 has been a strong partner for our hockey club for the past five years and we look forward to six more years of great hockey coverage."
"We are extremely proud of our CANUCKS coverage and are thrilled that the team is continuing to put their trust in TEAM 1040 with this early renewal," said BELL MEDIA RADIO Pres. CHRIS GORDON. "As we saw during last year's Cup run, sports fans in the lower mainland know to turn to TEAM 1040 for CANUCKS coverage. This extension ensures they'll have industry-leading coverage from VANCOUVER's best sports broadcasters for the next six years."
