SPIRITANDWORD.ORG, an online non-denominational spiritual resource, is launching its first-ever "Pass the Plate and Pass it Forward" community challenge, with $50,000 in proceeds to be divided amongst five ARIZONA-based nonprofit finalists nominated online through SPIRITANDWORD.ORG and to be announced WEDNESDAY, DEC. 14th.
The campaign -- designed to fast-track end-of-year donations for Valley nonprofits and to foster a philanthropic spirit -- offers local residents an opportunity to actively participate by nominating a worthwhile local charity working to bring joy to people in need this season.
"We felt an urgency to launch this effort when we learned that so many great organizations are trying to help folks in need during the holidays and the bad economy has seriously impacted the funds they have to operate," SPIRITANDWORD.ORG CEO CHARLIE VAN DYKE said. "So, we wanted to do something quickly to help."
SPIRITANDWORD.ORG’s promise to give back and serve as a catalyst in community giving is part of the legacy left behind by BILL AUSTIN, a PHOENIX radio personality made famous as co-host of the legendary BETH and BILL Morning Show and known for his generous support of many charitable causes. SPIRITANDWORD.ORG was founded with proceeds from THE BILL AUSTIN CHARITABLE TRUST. By year’s end, with just over six months since its first charitable donation of $15,000, SPIRITANDWORD.ORG will contribute $65,000 to ARIZONA nonprofits. In the coming year, the nonprofit plans to support communities across the country.
"BILL is no longer with us, but his legacy lives on," BETH MCDONALD said. "His hard work during his lifetime has now been transformed to good work that keeps his memory alive. I know that he must be pleased to be able to extend a helping hand to those who so desperately need it right now."
