Rule #1 In 2012!
February 7, 2012
There is one rule and basically one rule only that can be called the MOST IMPORTANT as you look to succeed in 2012.
That rule is "YOU REAP WHAT YOU SOW." At the beginning of 2013, about a year from now, you will have the opportunity to look back on what you accomplished in 2012. What you will have accomplished will have to do with what you PLANTED and then HARVESTED later. Just like a farmer, what you plant is what you will harvest. I also love to add the HUNTER to that analogy, so when you are not Planting or Harvesting, you are out HUNTING for your next win. Be a Hunter.
WRITE AND READ YOUR GOALS
The first step in your 2012 journey is to sit down and think about WHAT you want to accomplish in the coming months of 2012. You have plenty of time to accomplish these goals, you simply need to get them written down.
I carry mine with me at all times, and pull them out anytime I have a few empty seconds standing in a line or waiting somewhere. The cellphone with a "Notes" feature is the greatest invention! Right there on my phone, I can re-focus my goals at least three or four times a day -- and this creates a path to success.
Remember, REPETITION is the mother of all learning. So just like a song in "A" rotation, you should be looking at your "A" goals every day, and several times a day. This IMPRINTS the goals on your brain, and puts your subconscious to work to get you to these goals. Back before smart phones, I carried these goals in my wallet on a laminated piece of paper. It would get all tattered and worn out by the end of each year, so putting them on the phone where I can literally call them up within five seconds is the way to go.
Currently I am working 10 goals for 2012. Four are PERSONAL improvement goals, four are CAREER achievement goals, and two are FUTURE ACHIEVEMENT, 10 years out and beyond that I am setting up for in 2012. Very exciting stuff!
Looking at these goals I can see that this is a very ambitious year, but I think 2012 is a year that is FILLED with massive opportunity, so these goals are attainable. Never before have we had conditions so perfectly poised for a great year.
SOW, THEN REAP
Once your goals are securely on your phone, then start reading them several times a day and you will begin ACTING on them. Then it is simply a matter of time until the harvest.
No matter what your goals are, the most important thing in 2012 is that you get on it and start quantifying what you want to achieve. This way, you set the forces in motion to achieve your goal list.
