Correction: One Size Doesn't Fit All
January 27, 2012
What a great word, right? It describes a lot of the younger generation these days. They want to be their own person. They want to be different from the next one.
But they still want people to care. They demand that people know who they are. And that they get what they deserve. And get it soon.
So we as marketers must change our viewpoint to a new direction.
For starters don't ever say that one plan your team puts together will reach the masses of your station. You need to build plans that adapt to the growing sects of your audience. Reach those listeners in the corner. Figure out what touches them and makes them react to your station. Make your P2s WANT to be a part of what you're doing. When you do that, they become P1s.
You're in the business of building fans. Because those fans become word of mouth about your station. And you can't build fans by expecting the same plan to reach every listeners.
Divide. And conquer.
