The Australian group Middle Kids have announced that they have a new “mini-album” on the way called “New Songs For Old Problems.” It is set for release on May 24th via Domino. It was recorded at Middle Kids’ own studio and produced by their own Tim Fitz. “Real Thing” is the first song released from this collection along with a film clip as well. Directed by Marie Pangaud, the clip follows the narrative of a relationship with a bit of overlay of the trio doing a live performance.
Singing “Don’t it ever make you feel sad/Is this is the real thing”, the band’s front-woman Hannah Joy says of the track, “‘Real Thing’ is the lifelong quest for meaning. “The quiet, persistent voice in the stillness that constantly checks to see if you truly think you’ve found the thing you’re looking for.”
Middle Kids is based in Sydney, Australia and is led by lead singer/guitarist Hannah Joy and her husband, Tim Fitz. Drummer Harry Day fills out the trio. They have released one self-titled EP and an album entitled “Lost Friends.”
Middle Kids recently began their ‘Real Thing’ National Tour in Australia. In May, they will bring it stateside with shows all over the U.S.
