“I’m Messed Up” is the latest single from the San Diego-based reggae band, HIRIE. It is out now via Controlled Substance on their newest album, “Dreamer.”
“I’m Messed Up is an ode to those - who like myself - are trying to find a silver lining in their daily struggle,” said HIRIE lead singer Trish Jetton. “A song that celebrates your flaws and unwillingness to confirm to the mold of society. I’m messed up, you’re messed up, at the end of the day we’re ALL messed up! Sing it proudly!”
HIRIE is made up of Trish Jetton on lead vocals, guitar, uke; Chris Hampton on saxophone, flute, melodica, and accordion; Andrew McKee on trombone, guitar, didgeridoo, and percussion; Andy Flores on bass; Blaine Dillinger on lead guitar and Joey Muraoka on drums. Trish was raised in Hawaii and the band's name is a blend of Hawaii (HI) and “IRIE,” which is a Jamaican saying that means "everything is alright and fine."
The band was formed in 2013. Lead singer Trish notes, “HIRIE is a lifestyle choice, it’s about healing the body, the mind, and the spirit. Our fans and our band are always saying ‘let’s get HIRIE,’ it’s a way to detach from the painful complexities of the world, and bask in joyous energy.
HIRIE will be performing at Local Media San Diego’s Feed The Need Drive-In Concert on June 7th in the parking lot at Petco Park.
