The Dutch-American duo, AREA21 new single “La La La” landed April 9th via Hollywood Records. The track features smooth vocals and layered lyrics and is their first return to the music world since “HELP” came out in 2019. It will be on their forthcoming debut full-length album. The duo hinted at new music this year after wiping their Instagram feed. All that made it to the feed in 2021 were subtle posts revealing info leading up to “La La La.” Along with the single, Area21 have also put out a music video to go with it. Animated by Titmouse, inc. it follows two aliens who are on a mission to beam unhappy people up to their spaceship, to cheer them up with the power of music. It sends a message of hope to tell people that music can always unite people. Towards the end, the ship crashes into earth and then the real adventure begins.
Area21 member, Martin Garrix shared that fans should expect a new sound unlike any of AREA21's previous releases. "The new stuff is not super electronic. It’s like Gorillaz meets Outkast meets little bit of Daft Punk. It’s very playful. I'm very excited for when we release it.”
Area21 is made up of Garrix and Maejor. They gained popularity after Garrix debuted their song "Spaceships" in his set during Ultra Music Festival 2016 in which Garrix had headlined. Their identities were previously unknown despite speculations about Garrix being a part of it alongside one or more vocalists.
