Formed in 1980 in Leeds, The Sisters Of Mercy's was named after a Leonard Cohen song. The band cites inspiration from Bowie, Slade and The Velvet Underground. Andrew Eldritch (vocals, keyboards, guitars, drum programming) had a distaste for the record business and shifted the band's focus to performing live in lieu of releasing recorded music.
The Sisters Of Mercy's last album was Vision Thing released in 1990. The band released two other albums: Floodland in 1987, and First And Last And Always in 1985.
