Stone Sour
Sep 10, 2012
After taking a few years off to record, Alternative-Rock band, Stone Sour is making up for it with a double dose of new songs. Their upcoming new album The House of Gold and Bones Part I is packed. To date, Stone Sour have released three studio albums Stone Sour (2002); Come What(ever) May (2006) and Audio Secrecy (2010). This new studio effort, House of Gold and Bones will be released in two parts on October 23rd and then in May 2013.
Front-man Corey Taylor stated that the album is going to end up being a double album or concept album. Taylor has described that the album will be like Pink Floyd's The Wall meets Alice in Chains's Dirt. The album is also set to have a comic book released as a tie in to the story of the albums.
"Absolute Zero" is the first single off the album and it's an absolute rocker. Taylor gives the portrait of a man dealing with a question of who he wants to be. In the song, he blasts, "Oh I'm not afraid / I'm getting into grievances again / You're looking at an absolute zero / I'm not the devil but I won't be your hero." With combinations of both blaring and chugging guitars, the track drives along, and the hard-rocking journey comes to an end with the instruments dropping out and the "Hey-ay-ay-ay-ay-ay-ays" that call for an audience sing-along throughout the track giving the song an abrupt halt.
While Stone Sour has a handful of U.S. tour dates this fall, they will be traveling extensively throughout Asia and and Europe to promote The House of Gold and Bones Part 1. They have even been confirmed to be playing Soundwave Festival 2013 in Australia.
