Kings Of Leon
Jul 22, 2013

Grammy winning band, Kings Of Leon returned on July 17th with new single, "Supersoaker". This is the lead song off their sixth studio album, Mechanical Bull, which arrives on September 24th via RCA Records. The band have promised that this new album will be "more musically complicated" than their previous pop-driven efforts like 2010's Come Around Sundown.
Kings Of Leon formed in Nashville in 1999. The band is composed of brothers Anthony Caleb Followill (lead vocals, rhythm guitar), Ivan Nathan Followill (drums, percussion, backing vocals) and Michael Jared Followill (bass guitar, backing vocals), with their cousin Cameron Matthew Followill (lead guitar, backing vocals). The group is named for their grandfather Leon from Talihina, OK.
The band returned to long-time producer Angelo Petraglia for this new effort, but the results didn't turn out quite as expected - and that proved to be a good thing.
"I thought we were going to make a really mature album but I'm amazed how youthful it sounds," said bassist Jared Followill.
Kings Of Leon will be playing at the Rock For Oklahoma benefit before returning to Europe for a summer tour. Then, in September, Kings of Leon will take part in the iTunes Festival and Global Citizen Festival. In October, the band will play at Austin City Limits and then the Life Is Beautiful Festival in Las Vegas.
