Ted Leo & The Pharmacists
Feb 22, 2010

"The Brutalist Bricks," Leo and the Pharmacists' fifth studio album (and first for Matador Records) is due out March 9th. The set is the performer's first studio effort since 2007's "Living With the Living," Leo's first and only release for Touch and Go Records, which drastically downsized its roster of artists earlier this year.
In a recent note on his website, Leo explained that he named the album "in honor of the horrible expanse that is Boston's Government Center, the city of Brasilia, the Notre Dame student library, etc.," adding that "it's not really about Brutalist architecture, so much as about questioning how what looks good on paper works out when it's actually enacted. The cover might not make any sense at first, but if you stare at it long enough, you will go blind and then it won't matter."
The band will immediately hit the road to support their new effort. The trek kicks off March 11th in Cleveland, hitting 15 cities across the US before wrapping up April 10 in Boston.
The single, "A Mighty Sparrow" impacts Alternative on March 2nd.
