The Last Internationale

Blending blues, rock and folk, The Last Internationale set themselves apart from the mainstream by "standing the test of time," as the trio describes. The female-fronted three piece features former Rage Against The Machine's Brad Wilk on drums. The first single off their Epic Records debut album, We Will Reign, is called "Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit Of Indian Blood". The album was recorded at Hensen Studios in LA with producer Brendan O'Brien and is due out in July. It's the follow-up to their EP, New York, I Do Mind Dying.
"Life, Liberty, And The Pursuit Of Indian Blood' is about how this country was founded on genocide, slavery, and conquest, all of which still exist today," says the band. "The hopeful message of this song is that the only path of liberation is to continue building on generations of resistance to fully realize a better world."
The Last Internationale was founded by Delila Paz and Edgey Pires, who quickly formed a reputation for crafting poetic, socially conscious songs. Rage Against The Machine's Tom Morello, who is also executive producer of the band's debut album, has called The Last Internationale "one of my favorites in the next wave of rebel rockers. They're raw and real and mix East Village rock sensibilities with Battleship Potemkin firepower." They are reminiscent of the late 1960s-1970s protest bands and are influenced by the likes of Woody Guthrie, Joan Baez, and Joni Mitchell.
The Last Internationale played a handful of dates with Weezer. They will be playing at Lollapalooza in August.
