Ex Cops
Oct 23, 2014
The Brooklyn duo, Ex Cops recently released the first single off their second album, Daggers, entitled "Black Soap" via Downtown Records. The album was produced by Smashing Pumpkins front man, Billy Corgan and produced by Justin Raisen
(Sky Ferriera, Charli XCX, Kylie Minogue). The record rescues guitar pop from the bedroom, returning it to the stage it deserves. Their single "Black Soap" sees the two-piece trading in the jangle for more arena-ready atmospherics and bombastic hooks.
Gone is the understated vibe of their debut. One part of Ex Cops, Brian Harding said, "We are not afraid of our favorite music anymore. It's pop."
Ex Cops are the Brooklyn based pair, Amalie Bruun and Brian Harding. Formed in 2011, the group's first album True Hallucinations, released in early 2013, was a critically acclaimed collection of sprawling indie pop. From the exuberant "Spring Break (Birthday Song)" to the band's dreamy debut "You Are A Lion, I Am A Lamb," the John Siket, produced record (Blonde Redhead, Yo La Tengo) was a genre-jumping opening and its wall to wall guitars set the tone for their new album.
They are currently touring with Dum Dum Girls throughout the U.S. and will wrap in California on November 15th.
