Highly Suspect
Mar 26, 2015
"Lydia" is the new single released from the Brooklyn-based group, Highly Suspect, via 300 Entertainment. It is taken from their forthcoming album, Mister Asylum, due out on July 14th. It is the follow-up to their 2012 The Worst Human EP. "Lydia" is a searing, relentless bluesy rocker about broken relationships and growing pains. It's outfitted with guitar riffs that feel more like razor blades than musical notes. "I can't breathe, much less believe the truth!" Stevens confesses during the song's explosive chorus, his gravelly vocals adding yet another layer of intoxicating intensity.
Highly Suspect is comprised of Johnny Stevens (guitar, vocals & synth) and twin brothers Ryan (drums & vocals) and Rich Meyer (bass & vocals). Since relocating from the sandy shores of Cape Cod, Massachusetts, the trio's played DIY venues and dive bars across the Big Apple, honing its ferocious and cutting sound which is a potent melding of blues and garage rock that calls to mind Royal Blood and Queens Of The Stone Age.
The trio has been busy the past few months in anticipation of the album's release performing at various showcases and festivals. Highly Suspect just lit up SXSW with eight shows in Austin, Texas. They will be playing at Rock On The Range in May in Columbus, Ohio.
