The Moth & The Flame
Jun 14, 2015

The latest single from The Moth & The Flame is "Young & Unafraid". It will be on their newest as yet untitled album via Elektra Records produced by Peter Katis (The National, Interpol) and Tony Hoffer (M83, Beck). The video for the single stars Neal Unger, a skater who discovered the sport late in life. It follows Neal while he practices, getting back up after every fall and holding his own at the skate park.
The band said the concept materialized after the video's director, Rebecca Thomas, found Neal online:
"We all grew up on skateboarding and decided a cool skate video would be something we would want to watch. When Rebecca ran across a YouYube video of Neal Unger, a much older skateboarder, we all in fell in love with the idea of him being front and center. Neal took up skating later on in life, and to us he is a true example of someone who is Young & Unafraid."
Founded in the high desert of Provo, Utah but currently based in Los Angeles, The Moth & The Flame - singer/guitarist Brandon Robbins, keyboardist/vocalist Mark Garbett, and former Imagine Dragons drummer Andrew Tolman - arrived in 2011 and quickly earned devoted fans and critical acclaim for their brand of lush, atmospheric rock. NPR's "All Songs Considered" hailed the band's creative intertwining of compelling music and strong visuals. NYLON praised the band's 2013 "&," describing it as "a layered, complex collection of rock songs that probably has Chris Martin wishing he came up with them himself." UK's The Guardian proclaimed the aforementioned "Sorry" to be "as brilliant as Flaming Lips, by which we mean it has the brightness, the sheer surface dazzle, of the Lips' best music."
The Moth & The Flame has spent considerable time on the road, most recently alongside longtime friends Imagine Dragons and The Naked And Famous. Additionally, they've headlined countless shows and made standout festival appearances at such international gatherings as Austin's South By Southwest (SXSW) and the UK's The Great Escape. They will be continuing to tour this summer in support of their forthcoming album.
