1. Please tell us how 2020 changed your relationships?
Well… I got married :) So that was a big rela@onship change. My husband and I met in college on our first day of freshman year and we remained just friends all through college and 4 years aJer. We both re-met in the summer of 2020 and the Lord gave me a dream about him 3 months before that, promising that my husband was about to show up, and he sure did!
2. Share the most challenging part of the past year.
The most challenging part of the past year was laying down any pictures I created of what it was supposed to look like. I think we has humans oJen take mental pictures of our lives and our futures and start to subconsciously (and some@mes consciously) strive toward making that happen… But with God, it usually never turns out how we would picture but is SO much beVer and more rewarding because we get to trust Him to fulfill all the dreams and desires he placed in us.
3. Some really great advice you received recently was…
This is going to sound simple but it rocked my world: BE THANKFUL. My pastors were teaching on 1 Thessalonians 5:18 which says, “Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus.” My pastors said that in order to even be thankful, you have to be humble; because you realize you don’t deserve anything you have. For whatever reason, it really renewed my mindset around thankfulness.
4. How do you continue to deepen your relationship with Jesus?
I spend tme with Him. I get to know Him beter and beter through His word and by His spirit. It’s amazing :)
5. Share about that new song of yours.
Joy Comes in the Morning is a song that reminds the Saints of the joy that Jesus died for. He didn’t just die for our sins to be forgiven but for us to live an abundant life flled with JOY and PEACE and HOPE. One of my favorite lines is in the second verse that says, “What kind of Love is this, that wins every batle; all you have to do is just be stll.” If we could just remember to Be stll and KNOW that God is God and we are not, I truly believe we would experience joy all the tme, in all circumstances.
6. Tell us about someone who you really respect and why?
I really respect my pastor’s wife and the woman who has discipled me over the last few years, Shi-Anne Eakin. She had a Jesus Happened moment about 7 years ago that completely changed everything about her and through that encounter, she started seeing miracles, signs, and wonders that were born straight out of a life of Rest and Trust in Jesus. She’s walked through abuse, trauma, death of a loved one, miscarriages, etc. yet her faith remains steady and strong because she LOVES her Savior.
7. What would surprise people most about you?
I am a really good snow skier because I grew up doing it in the Colorado mountains…
8. What’s on your nightstand?
A lamp, an essental oil difuser, my phone charger, and usually a water botle.
9. What are you most excited about this year?
I am most excited to contnue growing in my faith and freely giving what I have freely received from Jesus through my music. I believe the Lord wants his followers to know that there’s so much more intmacy and closeness with Him that they can have if they want it. I pray that in some way my songs portray that message: Jesus is so much fun and so serious about loving us and being loved back.
10. What do you do for fun?
I love to work out and go on walks and read books and listen to podcasts. I’m the type of the girl who can read 2 or 3 books at a time, which usually means I don’t finish the first one I started… :)
