The Valory Music Co.'s Brantley Gilbert is taking his "Fire't Up Tour" beyond the stage and showing his support for local farmers and veterans by offering a farm-to-table approach for the tour's catering needs. Gilbert will work with Farmer Veteran Coalition (FVC) to purchase a selection of locally sourced meats, dairy and produce from 25+ cities along the tour route, and will invite the providing farm families to meet him, share their stories and stay for the show. FVC strives to prepare the next generation of farmers through the mentorship of returning military veterans. The track, "Tough Town" off Gilbert's most recent album, "Fire & Brimstone," is a nod to FVC and its work. Watch a video here.
“We hear on a regular basis from our veteran members how farming has meaning beyond a livelihood,” said FVC founder and Executive Director Michael O’Gorman. “Brantley Gilbert’s historic support of veterans is what’s so great about this fit. The veterans are really looking for a purpose and a place when they exit the military, and agriculture offers them this purpose and opportunity, with both a physical and psychological benefit. And America’s farming community just happens to really need them.” Gilbert added, “Our goal is to help boost local economies, showcase the best foods from the region, and spend a bit of time thanking these great folks for all they do.” Additionally, Gilbert will work with non-profit organization Musically Fed to distribute leftover food each night to local organizations tackling hunger.
