"Countrypolitan Duets" is the latest album from Nashville based Jazz singer Anna Wilson. This new album, which is scheduled for release February 1st, will be released under a new joint venture between Music World Music and Transfer Records. The album seeks to blend the genres of Country, Jazz and Pop and pay homage to Nashville's musical roots.
On Tuesday, November 16th, Anna made her Grand Ole Opry debut at the historic Ryman Auditorium in downtown Nashville, with several of the special guests featured on "Countrypolitan Duets," Opry member Connie Smith, Country artist Billy Dean, Jazz singer Larry Carlton and American Idol finalist Matt Giraud.
Keith Urban, Lady Antebellum, Rascal Flatts, Kenny Rogers, Ray Price, Connie Smith and steel guitar great Lloyd Green also take part in the album. In addition, Jazz musicians Rick Braun and Larry Carlton lend their sound to the CD. The songs chosen for the recording include songs like Patsy Cline's "Walking After Midnight" and Ray Price's "You're the Best Thing That Ever Happened To Me."
In addition to Anna's Jazz career, she has penned songs for Country artists like Chuck Wicks, Reba McEntire, Brooks & Dunn, Billy Ray Cyrus, Lee Ann Womack, and Chris Cagle. Most recently, Anna was awarded an RIAA Triple Platinum certification award for her Lady Antebellum cut, "If I Knew Then," that appears on the band's "Need You Now" album.
