Shelby Lynne
Nov 29, 2010
The great vocalist Shelby Lynne, who launched her own record label, Everso Records, earlier this year, is now doing something she has always wanted to do, releasing a holiday album. The project, "Merry Christmas," was already released last month, and as usual for a Shelby Lynne release, it was met with stellar reviews.
"'Merry Christmas' is a quiet gem," observed the Mobile Press Register.
Songs on the album include standards like "Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer," "Christmas Time Is Here," "O Holy Night" and "Christmastime's a Comin'," plus two original songs, "Ain't Nothin' Like Christmas" and "Xmas."
Lynne will also see another longtime dream come true this holiday season: she's finally touring with her sister, acclaimed singer-songwriter Allison Moorer. The pair recently played the 10th Annual Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival in San Francisco's Golden Gate Park and will hit the road together after Thanksgiving for a series of additional dates, culminating with a homecoming show at the Saenger Theatre in Mobile, Alabama on December 4th. (The two grew up in nearby Frankville).
"We are so lucky we get to do this for our own souls," said Lynne.
