BMLG Records' Brett Young recently sold out a four-night Hawaiian tour while raising several thousand dollars for HEARTS, an organization that supports Hawai'i Education For The Arts. The idea came from Young's discovery that local Hawaiian artists were covering his songs. He decided to donate a dollar from every ticket sold on his dates in the state to support the organization. HEARTS provides year-round music, hula, and theater arts programs for young people beginning at birth and continuing beyond high school, in addition to conducting productions for elderly care facilities, hospitals and churches.
Young said, "My wife and I have always been in love with the islands, so when we heard that local artists have been covering my songs and that we had a fan base over here, we thought it sounded like the perfect excuse to come spend time and give back to some of our favorite places. I’m hoping to make this a regular thing. It was very special for me and my family." (Photo: Carl Beust)
